AUBURN HILLS, Mich., Feb. 11 (UPI) -- Dennis Rodman will have his jersey retired by the Detroit Pistons in ceremonies in April, the NBA team said Friday.

Rodman, who wore No. 10 for the Pistons, played his first seven NBA seasons with Detroit and twice was selected NBA Defensive Player of the Year. The Pistons won back-to-back NBA titles with Rodman on the team.

In 549 games with Detroit, Rodman averaged 8.8 points and 11.5 rebounds a game. He holds team records for rebounds in a game (34), offensive rebounds in a game (18), defensive rebounds in a game (22) and most games with at least 25 rebounds (15).

"I'm pleased that we are honoring Dennis for his accomplishments as a player and his contributions to the success of the organization," said Joe Dumars, Pistons president of basketball operations. "His jersey retirement is well-deserved."

Rodman is to be honored at the Pistons' April 1 game against Chicago.

Rodman also played for San Antonio, Chicago, the Los Angeles Lakers and Dallas in a 14-season NBA career. The Bulls won the NBA title each of the three seasons Rodman played on the team.
