MINNEAPOLIS, Feb. 10 (UPI) -- Mike Davis and Demetri McCamey both scored 17 points Thursday in helping Illinois pull away late for a 71-62 win over No. 25 Minnesota.

The Fighting Illini won for the second time in five games and picked up their second road victory in conference play this season.

Minnesota's Blake Hoffarber forged a 55-55 tie by scoring on a layup with 7:28 to play, but Mike Davis gave Illinois the lead for good 17 seconds later.

Both the Illini and Golden Gophers have 16-8 records for the season. Illinois improved to 6-5 and Minnesota slipped to 5-7 in Big Ten Conference play, where unbeaten and top-ranked Ohio State has a three-game advantage over Wisconsin and Purdue.

Davis and McCamey combined to make 13-of-25 shots from the field while the rest of the team could make only 11-of-29. Trevor Mbakwe led Minnesota with 17 points.
