Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24

MOSCOW, Feb. 5 (UPI) -- Alize Cornet and Virginie Razzano gave France a surprising leg up in the Fed Cup with victories over Svetlana Kuznetsova and Maria Sharapova in Moscow.
Razzano topped Sharapova, a three-time Grand Slam champion, 6-3, 6-4. Cornet rallied to beat Kuznetsova 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 in their best-of-five quarterfinals competition.
Sharapova committed 46 unforced errors and only nine winners compared with 29 unforced errors for Razzano, who is ranked 83rd in the world.
The 67th-ranked Cornet won the final three games of the final set for the upset win.
The reverse singles matches will be played Sunday followed by doubles competition.
