COL BKB: Villanova 66, West Virginia 50

VILLANOVA, Pa., Feb. 5 (UPI) -- Maalik Wayns scored 17 points and Corey Fisher tallied 16 to lead 12th-ranked Villanova past visiting West Virginia 66-50 Saturday.

Wayns hit 6-of-10 from the field for the Wildcats (19-4, 7-3 Big East), who shot a solid 54.3 percent from the field, including 7-of-14 3-pointers.

Mouphtaou Yarou added 11 points and six rebounds for Villanova in their second consecutive victory.

West Virginia (15-7, 6-4) had a two-game winning streak snuffed out. Kevin Jones paced the Mountaineers with 16 points and six rebounds. John Flowers was also in double figures with 15 points.

West Virginia got off to a slow start and trailed 30-19 at halftime. The Mountaineers shot 35.8 percent from the field over the entire contest.
