Hannes Reichelt took first in the competition in 1minute, 43.91 seconds, about a half-second ahead of teammate Benjamin Raich and less than a full second ahead of Miller.
"It was a tactical race and I went to the limits, but the course set made you feel awkward on your skis," observed Miller. "I'm always trying to win races, but a podium finish is also pretty encouraging."
The win was Reichelt's first since 2008. Overall World Cup leader Ivica Kostelic placed fifth behind fourth-place Carlo Janko.
