Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24

NEW YORK, Feb. 4 (UPI) -- The NBA announced Friday Minnesota's Kevin Love would replace the injured Yao Ming of Houston in the league's All-Star Game later this month.
Yao was voted in as a starter for the Western Conference, but he has undergone season-ending ankle surgery.
Love will become the first member of the Timberwolves to play in the game since Kevin Garnett four years ago. Love, who leads the NBA in rebounds with 15.5 a game, had his 35th straight double-double Friday, scoring 20 points and grabbing 15 rebounds in Minnesota's 111-100 loss to Toronto.
The All-Star Game will be played Feb. 20 in Los Angeles.
