FORT COLLINS, Colo., Feb. 3 (UPI) -- D.J. Gay hit a jump shot with 1.8 seconds to play Wednesday, giving No. 6 San Diego State a 56-54 victory over Colorado State.

Billy White's layup gave San Diego a two-point lead with 2:27 remaining and neither side could score until Colorado State's Travis Franklin produced on a layup with 14 seconds to play.

That set up Gay for the game-winning shot, which improved the Aztecs to 22-1 for the season.

San Diego State is tied at the top of the Western Athletic Conference with ninth-ranked BYU at 7-1. Those teams meet in San Diego Feb. 26.

James Rahon led the Aztecs in scoring with 15 points off the bench. Kawhi Leonard had 12 points and 15 rebounds. Gay's winning shot was one of just three he made in nine tries.

Colorado State (15-7, 5-3) was paced by 18 points from Andy Ogide.
