NBA: Charlotte 97, Detroit 87

AUBURN HILLS, Mich., Feb. 2 (UPI) -- Stephen Jackson sparked a second-half run with his season-best 39 points Wednesday, lifting the Charlotte Bobcats to a 97-87 victory over Detroit.

Charlotte scored 17 points in a row during a stretch that began with 2:21 left in the third period and carried almost 4 minutes into the fourth. That allowed the Bobcats to close out a six-game road trip with a 4-2 mark.

Jackson's previous best effort this season had been a 38-point performance Dec. 29 against Cleveland. He made 14-of-26 shots from the field and 8-of-10 from the foul line.

Kwame Brown chipped in 14 points and 10 rebounds. Both Gerald Wallace and D.J. Augustin had 10 for the Bobcats.

Ben Gordon had 20 points for the Pistons, who lost their fourth in a row.

Charlotte has a 12-8 record since Paul Silas took over as interim coach Dec. 22.
