Weather forces Packers practice indoors

DALLAS, Jan. 31 (UPI) -- With bad weather bearing down on the Dallas area, the Green Bay Packers Monday moved their Super Bowl practice sessions indoors to a nearby high school.

The NFC champs originally were to hold drills outdoors at Southern Methodist University in downtown Dallas. But weather forecasters have issued a winter storm watch calling for sleet, freezing rain and wind starting Tuesday, prompting the Packers to call an audible, NFL.com reported.

The Web site said the Packers -- who along with their AFC opponents Pittsburgh Steelers arrived in town Monday for Super Bowl XLV -- have opted to move their workouts to the indoor facilities at Highland Park High School in Dallas.

The Steelers were already planning to practice indoors at Texas Christian University in Fort Worth.

A massive winter storm throughout the Midwest is affecting the travel plans of fans planning to attend the game, officials said.

"The only disappointment so far is the weather," Super Bowl XLV Host Committee Chairman Roger Staubach told ESPNDallas.com.
