MINNEAPOLIS, Jan. 25 (UPI) -- The Minnesota Twins Tuesday reached an agreement with starting pitcher Kevin Slowey on a one-year, $2.7 million contract, avoiding arbitration.

Slowey, a 26-year-old right-hander, went 13-6 with a 4.45 earned run average in 28 starts and two relief appearances in 2010.

Slowey has a 39-21 mark and 4.41 ERA over 86 career contests (82 starts) for Minnesota since being called up from the minors in 2007.
