NHL: Colorado 4, St. Louis 3

DENVER, Jan. 25 (UPI) -- Kevin Shattenkirk and Ryan Stoa scored third-period goals Monday, propelling the Colorado Avalanche to a 4-3 decision over St. Louis.

Brandon Yip collected a pair of second-period scores and Kyle Cumiskey added two assists for the Avs, who extended their winning streak over St. Louis to six games.

The contest was tied 2-2 entering the final frame when Brad Boyes drew a high-sticking penalty and Shattenkirk responded by giving Colorado the lead with wrist shot from the left circle. Stoa supplied the eventual game-winner 44 seconds later.

Peter Budaj stopped 21-of-24 shots for the Avs.

Jay McClement, Eric Brewer and David Backes scored and Jaroslav Halak made 28 saves for the Blues.
