Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24

ATLANTA, Jan. 22 (UPI) -- Mats Zuccarello scored the only goal in a shootout Saturday, handing the New York Rangers a 3-2 decision over Atlanta.
After Zuccarello bested Ondrej Pavalec in the tiebreaker, Henrik Lundqvist stopped Niclas Bergfors to preserve the advantage and hand a win to the injury-riddled Rangers, who improved to 3-0-2 in their last five visits to Atlanta.
Newly obtained Wojtek Wolski and Brian Boyle also scored for New York, who were playing without leading scorer Brandon Dubinsky and left winger Ruslan Fedotenko.
Lundqvist turned aside 20-of-22 shots to collect the victory.
Nik Antropov and Anthony Stewart scored and Pavalec let in two goals on 31 shots for the Thrashers.
