ROSEMONT, Ill., Jan. 22 (UPI) -- Gilbert Brown and Ashton Gibbs combined for 30 points for No. 4 Pittsburgh Saturday and the Panthers dealt an emphatic 80-50 loss to DePaul.

Brown scored 17 points, Gibbs contributed 13 and Brad Wanamaker added nine and eight assists as the Panthers (19-1, 7-0 ACC) notched a seventh straight conference victory to open the season for the first time in school history.

Gary McGhee was held to five points but hauled down 15 rebounds and Gibbs recorded his 1,000 career point mark for Pitt.

The Blue Demons (6-13, 0-7), meanwhile, were stymied by a 34.5 percent shooting mark from the field.

Cleveland Melvin led them with 11 points and Tony Freeland contributed eight off the bench in DePaul's 19th straight regular-season conference loss.
