After grabbing the 2-0 lead less than 4 minutes into the game, the Wild kept the Oilers off the board until Magnus Paajarvi scored the lone Edmonton goal at 16:14 of the third period.

Pierre-Marc Bouchard and Andrew Brunette scored third-period goals for the Wild, who have won six of their last nine.

Anton Khudobin made 31 saves for Minnesota.

Nikolai Khabibulin allowed four goals on 26 shots for Edmonton.

The third period featured a pair of rows that resulted in four fighting majors and a game misconduct for Minnesota's Brad Staubitz.
