NEW YORK, Jan. 18 (UPI) -- The NHL Tuesday named the Vancouver Canucks' Alain Vigneault and the Philadelphia Flyers' Peter Laviolette as coaches for one of the all-star teams.

Vigneault has guided Vancouver to the top of the Western Conference with an NHL-best 64 points. Laviolette has been equally impressive, taking Philadelphia to first place in the Eastern Conference with 63 points.

They earned their all-star selections based on their teams having the highest points percentage in their respective conferences.

Coaching the other all-star team will be Joel Quenneville, based on the Chicago Blackhawks winning the Stanley Cup last season. His assistant, Mike Haviland, will be on the bench with him for the all-star game, which will take place Jan. 30 in Raleigh, N.C.
