Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24

LOS ANGELES, Jan. 18 (UPI) -- The Los Angeles Dodgers and starting pitcher Chad Billingsley have avoided arbitration and agreed on a one-year contract, the team said Tuesday.
Terms of the contract weren't announced, but ESPN.com reported it was worth $6.3 million.
Billingsley compiled a 12-11 record last season while lowering his ERA from 2009's mark of 4.03 to 3.57. He also avoided arbitration last year by signing a one-year, $3.85 million contract.
In five seasons with the Dodgers, the right-hander has racked up a 59-41 record with a 3.55 ERA.
