MORGANTOWN, W.Va., Jan. 16 (UPI) -- Kevin Jones scored 17 points and John Flowers added 15 for West Virginia Sunday and the Mountaineers held off No. 8 Purdue for a 68-64 victory.

Jones grabbed nine rebounds and Flowers added seven boards for West Virginia (12-4), which notched its season-high fourth straight victory.

The Mountaineers, however, had to fend off a late challenge by Purdue.

JuJuan Johnson's jumper brought the Boilermakers to within two points at 64-62 with 37 second remaining, but E'Twaun Moore missed a potential game-tying jumper 20 seconds later.

After West Virginia added a Joe Mazzulla free throw, the Boilermakers' Ryan Smith missed a 3-point try with 8 seconds left.

Johnson struck for 26 points and seven rebounds but Moore was held to 14 points on 6-for-18 shooting for Purdue (15-3), which dropped its second straight.
