BATON ROUGE, La., Jan. 12 (UPI) -- Football Coach Les Miles has agreed to a new seven-year, $26.2 million contract to stay at Louisiana State.

The school announced Tuesday that Miles wasn't leaving LSU for Michigan, his alma mater. Michigan officials shortly after that announcement said they'd hired San Diego State's Brady Hoke as the Wolverines' football coach.

Miles, who reportedly had been under contract through 2014, will be paid $3.751 million per year. While that doesn't reflect a raise over his previous salary, the new deal, which runs through 2017, includes incentives for post-season accomplishments and championships, LSU said in a news release.

"We are pleased to reach an agreement that will keep Les Miles as the leader of our football program for many years to come," LSU Athletic Director Joe Alleva said. "Les is one of the winningest coaches in the country over the last six years and his players perform well both in the classroom and in the community."

LSU has a 62-17 record in six seasons under Miles, who previously coached at Oklahoma State. The Tigers were 11-2 this year and ended the season with a 41-24 win over Texas A&M in the Cotton Bowl. Miles is 5-1 in bowl games at LSU, including winning the BCS title game after the 2007 season.
