DIAMONDHEAD, Miss., Jan. 12 (UPI) -- The younger sister of Minnesota Vikings quarterback Brett Favre was arrested at a Mississippi methamphetamine lab Wednesday, authorities said.
Hancock County, Miss., investigators said Brandi Favre was among five people arrested inside a Diamondhead, Miss., condominium where meth allegedly was being produced, WLOX-TV, Biloxi, Miss., reported.
Police evacuated seven units at the condominium complex during the arrests.
Authorities said they had observed an alleged drug buy at a gas station and followed a suspect back to the site.
WLOX reported Brandi Favre and the other suspects were taken to Hancock Medical Center in Bay St. Louis, Miss., for decontamination before being transported to jail.
She was charged with shoplifting in 1999 and in 1996 with unlawful use of a weapon in connection with a drive-by shooting at a motel in Slidell, La., while she was a student at Southern Mississippi, the New York Daily News reported.
Those charges were stricken from her record after she completed a program in Louisiana, the newspaper said.
Brett Favre has indicated he will not return for another year in the NFL after completing a stellar 20-year career.
