UNIONDALE, N.Y., Jan. 11 (UPI) -- Ryan Kesler's shootout goal proved to be the game-winner Tuesday in the Vancouver Canucks' 4-3 decision over the New York Islanders.

Kesler popped a snap shot past Islanders netminder Kevin Poulin after Roberto Luongo had stopped John Tavares in the shootout, giving the win to Vancouver, which improved to 14-0-3 in its last 17 games.

Kesler, Kevin Bieksa and Alexandre Burrows scored in regulation time and Luongo made 38 saves for the Canucks.

The Islanders got a goal and an assist from Blake Comeau as well as goals from Jack Hillen and Tavares.
