Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24
VILLANOVA, Pa., Jan. 9 (UPI) -- Corey Fisher pumped in 21 points and Malik Wayans added 15 Sunday in No. 7 Villanova's 72-61 victory over No. 25 Cincinnati in a Big East battle.
Dominic Cheek connected on a 3-pointer midway through the first half to put the Wildcats ahead 18-15 and Villanova (14-1, 3-0 Big East) was never headed after that.
Wayans opened the second half with a trey to give the Wildcats a 19-point bulge at 42-23 and they went on to record their 45th straight home win.
Mouphtaou Yarou added nine points and grabbed a team-high seven points for the victors.
Rashad Bishop led Cincinnati (15-1, 2-1) with 14 points and Yancy Gates added 11 and nine rebounds as the Bearcats fell to 1-6 all-time against Villanova.
