BALTIMORE, Jan. 8 (UPI) -- Baltimore Ravens safety Ed Reed will play against Kansas City this weekend despite a potential family tragedy, the NFL Network reported Saturday.

NFL Network reported Reed will participate in the Ravens' playoff game against the Chiefs Sunday with a heavy heart after a man identified as his younger brother went missing.

Louisiana authorities said a man jumped into the Mississippi River Friday morning while fleeing officers from the St. Charles Parish Sheriff's Office.

Karen Reed, the mother of the Ravens player and his 29-year-old brother Brian Reed, indicated the missing man is believed to be Brian Reed.

Sgt. Dwayne LaGrange of the St. Charles Parish Sheriff's Office told the network the missing man hasn't been positively identified. He said the suspect jumped into the river about 10 a.m. Friday when a deputy told him to put his hands behind his back.
