NHL: Buffalo 2, Phoenix 1 (OT)

GLENDALE, Ariz., Jan. 8 (UPI) -- Drew Stafford's goal with 1:48 remaining in overtime Saturday handed the Buffalo Sabres a 2-1 victory over Phoenix.

Stafford sent a hard slap shot just inside the post from the right circle, beating Jason LaBarbera and sending the Sabres to their fourth win in five games.

Jordan Leopold also scored and Ryan Miller turned aside 33 shots for the victors.

Scottie Upshall scored and LaBarbera made 30 saves for the Coyotes.
