COL BKB: Pittsburgh 89, Marquette 81

PITTSBRUGH, Pa., Jan. 8 (UPI) -- Ashton Gibbs and Brad Wanamaker combined for 34 points Saturday and fifth-ranked Pittsburgh handled Marquette 89-81.

Gibbs scored 19 points and Wanamaker added 15 for the Panthers (15-1, 3-0 Big East).

Gilbert Brown contributed 14 points and Gary McGhee netted 12 for Pittsburgh, which shot 60 percent from the floor and stretched its home winning streak to 18 games.

Marquette (11-5, 2-1) got 20 points from Darius Johnson-Odom and Dwight Buycks chipped in 19 as the Golden Eagles lost for only the second time in six games.
