WASHINGTON, Jan. 7 (UPI) -- Rashard Lewis led Washington to a quick start Friday and the Wizards coasted to a 97-77 victory over New Jersey.

Lewis and Nick Young both scored 16 points for the Wizards but Lewis also had season-best numbers in rebounds (13) and assists (six).

Washington jumped to a 21-3 lead, limited New Jersey to 13 first-quarter points and was never threatened the rest of the way. The Wizards ended a three-game losing streak.

JaVale McGee added 15 points and John Wall had nine assists and no turnovers. Washington has downed New Jersey in seven of their last nine meetings.

New Jersey was led by 14 points each from Jordan Farmar and Brooks Lopez. The Nets have lost six of their last seven.

It took the Nets almost 4 minutes to produce their first field goal and they shot just 34 percent from the field for the game.
