Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24

CHARLOTTE, N.C., Jan. 3 (UPI) -- LeBron James poured in 38 points Monday, propelling the Miami Heat to their sixth straight win, a 96-82 victory over Charlotte.
James grabbed nine rebounds, Dwyane Wade added 31 and 11 rebounds and Chris Bosh chipped in with 11 points and four rebounds for Miami.
The Heat won for the 18th time in 19 games overall and notched their 11th consecutive road victory.
Charlotte was coping with losses of injured forward Gerald Wallace (ankle) and centers Nazr Mohammed (knee) and DeSagana Diop (right Achilles).
They were led by Stephen Jackson's 22 points while D.J. Augustin contributed 16 points.
