Jan. 3, 2011 at 5:54 PM

CHARLOTTE, N.C., Jan. 3 (UPI) -- Charlotte Bobcats center DeSagana Diop is out for the rest of the season with a ruptured right Achilles tendon, the team said Monday.

The 7-foot Diop hurt his tendon during Friday's 96-95 loss to the Golden State Warriors, and a magnetic resonance imaging test confirmed the severity of the injury.

Diop averaged 1.3 points and 2.5 rebounds while logging 11.3 minutes per game off the bench for the Bobcats.

The nine-year NBA veteran posted averages of 2.1 points, 3.8 rebounds and 1.1 blocks per game over 552 career contests with Cleveland, Dallas, New Jersey and Charlotte.
