SAN FRANCISCO, Jan. 2 (UPI) -- Alex Smith passed for two scores and Brian Westbrook rushed for two more Sunday, propelling the San Francisco 49ers to a 38-7 rout of Arizona.
Smith went 15-of-29 passing without being picked off, finding Ted Ginn Jr. and Vernon Davis on long scoring strikes, and Westbrook scored on a pair of 6-yard runs for the 49ers (6-10).

San Francisco erupted for a 21-point third quarter to ice the game.
The Cardinals (5-11), meanwhile, used both rookie John Skelton and Richard Bartel behind center.
Skelton started and passed for 92 yards, a touchdown and an interception.
Bartel came in at the end of the third quarter and tossed for 92 yards with an interception that Tarell Brown ran back 62 yards for a touchdown.
