Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24

CLEVELAND, Jan. 2 (UPI) -- Shawn Marion put in 22 points and the Dallas Mavericks overcame the loss of forwards Dirk Nowitzki and Caron Butler Sunday to down Cleveland 104-95.
DeShawn Stevenson contributed 21 points and Tyson Chandler provided 14 points and 14 rebounds for the Mavericks, who won while front court mates Nowitzki and Butler sat out with injuries.
The Mavs also got big contributions from Jason Terry with 18 points and Jason Kidd with 10 points and eight assists.
The Cavaliers, meanwhile, lost for the second time in January despite Antawn Jamison's 35 points and 10 rebounds.
Ramon Sessions contributed 19 points, 12 assists and seven rebounds in Cleveland's defeat.
