Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24

WASHINGTON, Jan. 1 (UPI) -- The New Orleans Hornets used a combined 39 points from Trevor Ariza and Emeka Okafor Saturday to down the Washington Wizards 92-81.
Ariza finished with 22 points and Okafor had 17 points with 15 rebounds for a double-double. Chris Paul also notched a double-double with 13 points and 11 assists for the Hornets, who have back-to-back wins on the road after a seven-game road losing streak.
Washington was led by Nick Young's 24 points as it fell to 8-8 at home this season. Rashard Lewis added 14 points for the Wizards.
