PHOENIX, Dec. 31 (UPI) -- Vince Carter scored 19 points in his second game for Phoenix Friday and the Suns broke it open in the second quarter on their way to a 92-75 win over Detroit.

Carter, recently obtained in a trade with Orlando, added nine rebounds in helping the Suns end a four-game losing streak.

Jared Dudley also had 19 points for Phoenix and Grant Hill added 12.

The Suns already had a seven-point lead early in the second quarter when they embarked on an 11-point run. The closest Detroit came after that was its 10-point deficit at the end of the third period.

Detroit was led by Ben Gordon with 19 points and Tayshaun Prince with 12.
