Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24
OKLAHOMA CITY, Dec. 31 (UPI) -- A typical superstar performance from Kevin Durant Friday allowed the Oklahoma City Thunder to hold on in the fourth quarter for a 103-94 victory over Atlanta.
Durant scored 33 points, his 12th 30-point showing of the season, hitting half his 22 shots from the field and all six from the foul line while playing 42 minutes.
Oklahoma City had only a four-point lead heading into the fourth quarter, then held the Hawks to 15 points over the final 12 minutes.
The Thunder won their second straight and moved a half game in front of Utah for the lead in the Northwest Division.
Russell Westbrook added 22 points for Oklahoma City and James Harden had 15 off the bench.
Atlanta, which had won its previous two games, got 26 points from Jamal Crawford and 23 from Josh Smith.
