COL BKB: Kentucky 78, Louisville 63

LOUISVILLE, Ky., Dec. 31 (UPI) -- Brandon Knight and Josh Harrelson combined to score 48 points Friday and lead No. 12 Kentucky to a 78-63 decision over 20th-ranked Louisville.

The Wildcats shot 51 percent against their in-state rival with Knight and Harrelson teaming to make 17-of-25 shots from the field. Knight scored 25 points and Harrelson had 13 rebounds to go with his 23 points.

The only other Kentucky player in double figures was Terrence Jones with 12.

Kentucky held Louisville to only four points during a 10-minute stretch that began with 4:31 remaining in the opening half. That allowed the Wildcats to open an 18-point lead.

Both teams have 11-2 records as they prepare to enter conference play. Kentucky will open its Southeastern Conference season on Jan. 8 against Georgia and Louisville will start up in the Big East Conference against Seton Hall on Wednesday.

Preston Knowles paced Louisville with 22 points.
