NBA: Sacramento 100, Memphis 98

SACRAMENTO, Dec. 30 (UPI) -- A desperation 3-point shot by Tyreke Evans from beyond midcourt as the buzzer sounded Wednesday gave the Sacramento Kings a 100-98 victory over Memphis.

In one of the most dramatic endings of the year in the NBA, the shot by Evans finished off a series of events down the stretch that saw the Kings steal a win.

It was only the sixth triumph for Sacramento all season and ended an eight-game losing streak.

Mike Conley missed a chance to give Memphis a four-point lead when he could make only 1-of-2 from the foul line with 31.3 seconds remaining. DeMarcus Cousins then brought the Kings within one with a layup that came with 26.2 seconds to go.

Evans next put Sacramento in front when he stole the ball from O.J. Mayo and drove in for a dunk with 16 seconds left, but Mayo appeared to have given Memphis the win when he hit a jumper with 1.5 seconds to play.

Cousins followed by throwing a pass up court to Evans, who had just enough time to get off a heave at the buzzer that brought the Kings the unlikely triumph.

Beno Udrih led Sacramento with 24 points and both Cousins and Evans had 21.

Zach Randolph scored 35 points and had 17 rebounds for the Grizzlies, who had won their previous two games.
