BUFFALO, N.Y., Dec. 30 (UPI) -- A 34-point effort from Jimmer Fredette Thursday pushed No. 16 Brigham Young to a tougher-than-expected, 90-82 victory over Buffalo.

The Cougars (13-1) have won three in a row since they suffered their only setback of the season, that coming Dec.18 against UCLA.

The Cougars were outshot from the field but won the rebounding battle and forced 20 turnovers. Noah Hartsock added 19 points and Brandon Davies had 18 for BYU, which will open its Mountain West Conference schedule Jan. 5 at Nevada-Las Vegas.

Mitchell Watt scored 17 points for the Bulls (7-4), who had won their previous three games.
