NHL: Vancouver 6, Philadelphia 2

VANCOUVER, British Columbia, Dec. 29 (UPI) -- Ryan Kesler had two goals and an assist in support of Roberto Luongo's 35 saves Tuesday in the Vancouver Canucks' 6-2 win over Philadelphia.

Kesler extended his points streak to eight games and helped the Canucks beat the Flyers in Vancouver for the first time since 1989.

Daniel Sedin added a goal and an assist for the Canucks, who have won seven of their last eight games. Manny Malhotra, Jannik Hansen and Jeff Tambellini accounted for the other Vancouver goals.

The Flyers had goals from Danny Briere and Jeff Carter. Brian Boucher stopped 24-of-28 shots before being lifted after just over 25 minutes for Sergei Bobrovsky. Bobrovsky made 19 saves on 21 shots.

Vancouver led 1-0 after one period and the added three goals in the second. Kesler scored 56 seconds into the period and again at 5:21 on a power play off an assist from Sedin and Claude Giroux to make it 4-1.

The Canucks lead was 6-1 at 13:14 of the third period when Carter scored a power-play goal that closed out the scoring.
