NEW YORK, Dec. 29 (UPI) -- Minnesota quarterback Brett Favre was fined $50,000 by the NFL Wednesday for not fully cooperating in the league's probe of the Jenn Sterger case.

NFL spokesman Greg Aiello said on his Twitter account Favre was penalized for "lack of cooperation," not for violating league policy.

The ruling ends the league's investigation into allegations Favre sent the married former New York Jets employee improper voicemails seeking to arrange a date with Sterger along with several graphic pictures of his penis.

Favre met with league representatives in October; Sterger met with the league in November.

FoxSports.com reported the quarterback admitted leaving Sterger voicemails when he was with the Jets in 2008 but denied sending the pictures.

Favre, who suffered a concussion Dec. 20 against Chicago, didn't play in the Vikings' win at Philadelphia Tuesday night, and his status is uncertain for Minnesota's final game of the season Sunday at Detroit.
