SACRAMENTO, Dec. 28 (UPI) -- Eric Gordon and Blake Griffin combined for 55 points Monday and the Los Angeles Clippers survived a late scare to post a 100-99 win over Sacramento.
Gordon poured in 31 points and Griffin added 24 and 14 rebounds for the Clippers, who almost blew the game in the final seconds when Ryan Gomes fouled the Kings' Tyreke Evans in 3-point territory with 1.9 seconds remaining, giving the Kings' rookie a chance to tie it.
Evans sank the first two of his three free throws but missed the third one. Sacramento's DeMarcus Cousins almost scored on a tip-in try and Evans' final chance before the buzzer rimmed out, sealing the Kings' loss.
Evans scored 32 points for the Kings, who lost to the Clippers for the third time this season saw their NBA-worst record drop to 5-23.
