Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24

HOUSTON, Dec. 28 (UPI) -- Kevin Martin put in 20 points and Aaron Brooks got hot late in the game Monday to pace the Houston Rockets' 100-93 victory over Washington.
The Rockets trailed by 10 points in the fourth quarter when they went on a 14-4 run to pull with one point at 86-87 with 6:39 remaining.
Brooks canned a 3-pointer with 2:20 left, putting Houston ahead for good, and Martin added another trey a minute later to give the Rockets their final 100-93 advantage.
Shane Battier added 15 points and Luis Scola contributed 14 as the Rockets won their eighth straight home game.
Kirk Hinrich scored 19 points and the Wizards received 17 points and 14 rebounds from Andray Blatche in the loss, their 15th straight on the road to start the season.
