Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24

INDIANAPOLIS, Dec. 28 (UPI) -- Paul Pierce scored 21 points and Ray Allen added 17 Tuesday, fueling the Boston Celtics' 95-83 spanking of Indiana.
Pierce notched seven assists, Kevin Garnett contributed 11 points and 13 rebounds and Glen Davis added 14 points off the bench for the Celtics.
Boston shook off a tough Christmas Day loss to Orlando, thanks in part to 12 points and five rebounds from Marquis Daniels.
Shaquille O'Neal contributed nine points before fouling out for the Celtics.
The Pacers, who lost for the third time in four games, were led by Brandon Rush's 17 points and seven rebounds.
