Ravens' Kindle faces DUI charge

BALTIMORE, Dec. 27 (UPI) -- Baltimore Ravens rookie Sergio Kindle was arrested and charged with drunken driving in Maryland's Howard County, police said.

Police stopped Kindle early Monday after an officer saw his vehicle weaving as he drove on Route 1 near Route 32 in Savage, The Baltimore Sun reported.

Kindle was ticketed for speeding, driving under the influence of alcohol and failure to obey traffic control devices. He was taken into custody and released on a $10,000 bond.

The 23-year-old linebacker said he informed team officials about the incident.

"I just want to apologize to the organization, because I don't want to bring a negative light to the team," Kindle said. "It was my mistake. I can't take it back now. I don't know what's going to happen from here."

A team spokesman said the incident will be dealt with later.

Kindle was the Ravens' first draft pick in 2010 but suffered a skull fracture before training camp. He has been taking part in physical therapy but has been unable to participate in football activities.

In 2009, Kindle crashed his car into an apartment building and left the scene, authorities said. His attorney said the accident occurred because Kindle was texting while driving.
