NHL: Ottawa 2, Nashville 1

NASHVILLE, Dec. 24 (UPI) -- Brian Elliott made 25 saves and won for the first time in almost a month Thursday, lifting the Ottawa Senators to a 2-1 decision over Nashville.

The Senators won for only the third time in eight games, but Elliott has endured a more difficult stretch than that. He had appeared in seven straight games without a triumph, having last won Nov. 27 when he shut out Toronto.

The only goal off Elliott came from Marcel Goc, who brought the Predators within one midway through the second after Alex Kovalev and Nick Foligno had scored for Ottawa.

Pekka Rinne suffered the loss while making 28 saves. It was his first start since Dec 1.
