DALLAS, Dec. 24 (UPI) -- Alex Tanguay tied it with 1:21 left in the third period Thursday and then scored the only shootout goal, boosting the Calgary Flames to a 3-2 win over Dallas.
Tanguay put a wrist shot past Kari Lehtonen to start the shootout and Miikka Kiprusoff made that goal stand up. Calgary ended a three-game skid and handed the Stars their first loss in four games.

The point Dallas earned, however, lifted the Stars into a first-place tie in the Western Conference with Detroit.
Kiprusoff made just 14 saves in regulation and overtime to get the win. Lehtonen stopped 30 shots.
Tanguay scored the game-tying goal while Calgary was skating with an extra attacker.
