Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24

FLORHAM PARK, N.J., Dec. 23 (UPI) -- Jets head coach Rex Ryan said Thursday that letting quarterback Mark Sanchez start may end up being a game-time decision.
Ryan said after practice that Sanchez's injured shoulder was worse than the team first suspected, though he would not confirm Sanchez has a slight cartilage tear in the shoulder.
Sanchez, who was hurt in last week's win against Pittsburgh. If he is unable to play, Mark Brunell will get the start.
In addition to Sanchez, wide receiver Santonio Holmes (toe) and cornerback Darrelle Revis (hamstring) were both limited in practice.
The Jets (10-4) trail New England by two games for first place in the AFC North. They play at Chicago (10-4), which has already locked up the NFC North.
