Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24
WASHINGTON, Dec. 23 (UPI) -- Sidney Crosby's points streak reached 23 games Thursday before Pascal Dupuis scored the game-winner in a shootout, lifting Pittsburgh past Washington 3-2.
Dupuis put a shot over the glove of Michal Neuvirth in the seventh round after Marc-Andre Fleury had stopped a shot from Mike Green.
Crosby opened the scoring 3:21 into the game with his 29th goal of the year and he assisted on a score by Chris Kunitz early in the third that gave the Penguins a 2-1 lead. Mike Knuble forced overtime by scoring shorthanded with 5:29 left in regulation.
Crosby has 23 goals and 22 assists during his run, which is the longest since Mats Sundin put together a 30-game point streak18 years ago.
It was the third straight win for the Penguins and the 15th in their last 17 games. Fleury made 32 saves and the Penguins reached 50 points before Christmas for the No. 1 total in the NHL.
Neuvirth suffered the loss while making 25 saves.
