COL BKB: Washington State 77, Baylor 71

HONOLULU, Dec. 23 (UPI) -- A 3-pointer by Klay Thompson with 1:08 to play Thursday turned back a Baylor comeback and helped lift Washington State to a 77-71 win over the No. 15 Bears.

Baylor staged a tremendous second-half rally, overcoming a 20-point deficit with a 29-8 surge in the semifinals of the Diamond Head Classic. Washington State then regained a four-point lead, only to have LaceDarius Dunn hit a 3-point shot for the Bears that brought them within 68-67 with 1:44 to play.

Thompson followed with his own 3-pointer and the Cougars easily held on from there.

Baylor fell to 8-2 and the Cougars improved to 10-1.

Thompson scored 20 points and was one of five Washington State players in double figures. Faisal Aden added 13 for the Cougars, who shot 57 percent from the field and made 9-of-18 from 3-point range.

Dunn led Baylor with 29 points.
