Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24

LAS VEGAS, Dec. 23 (UPI) -- Tim Shelton gave San Diego State an eight-point lead with 5:55 to play Wednesday and the No. 7 Aztecs held on to defeat IUPUI 56-54.
The game was part of the Las Vegas Classic.
San Diego State did not score another point after Shelton's layup put the Aztecs in front 56-48.
Alex Young brought the Jaguars within two points by making a dunk with 1:19 remaining but he missed a jumper with 17 seconds to go and IUPUI did not get off another shot.
San Diego State, which has won all 14 of its games this season, got 18 points from D.J. Gay and 12 from Malcolm Thomas. The Aztecs led by as many as 13 points in the second half.
Young led the Jaguars (5-8) with 19 points.
