MINNEAPOLIS, Dec. 22 (UPI) -- Deron Williams scored 25 points Wednesday to lead a big Utah comeback that brought the Jazz a 112-107 decision over Minnesota.
Utah trailed by 15 points in the final minute of the third period but came back to give Coach Jerry Sloan the 1,211th win of his NBA career. That moved him into third place on the all-time list ahead of Pat Riley.
Utah took the lead for good at 108-107 on a 3-point play by Paul Millsap with 30 seconds to go. After Martell Webster missed a 3-pointer for the Timberwolves, Gordon Hayward converted another 3-point play with 13 seconds remaining for a four-point lead.
Al Jefferson added 23 points for Utah, which outscored Minnesota 18-6 over the final 3 minutes.
Kevin Love led Minnesota with 25 points and 19 rebounds. Michael Beasley scored 24 points. The Timberwolves have lost seven in a row and have won just twice in their last 17 games.
