Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24

ATLANTA, Dec. 22 (UPI) -- Joe Johnson helped Atlanta overcome a sluggish start Wednesday and the Hawks won their eighth straight home game with a 98-84 decision over Cleveland.
Atlanta fell behind by as many as seven points in the opening quarter, but dominated the final three quarters. Johnson scored 23 points and had seven assists. Al Horford contributed 18 points for Atlanta and Josh Smith had 16 points with 11 rebounds.
Cleveland lost for the 12th time in 13 games. The only win for the Cavaliers since Nov. 27 was an overtime victory against the New York Knicks last Saturday.
Antawn Jamison had 23 points for Cleveland.
