COL BKB: Villanova 76, Monmouth 36

WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J., Dec. 22 (UPI) -- Corey Fisher scored 20 points for Villanova Wednesday and the eighth-ranked Wildcats got off to a quick start in running over Monmouth 76-36.

The Wildcats allowed only seven points during the first 13 minutes en route to a 44-17 lead at intermission.

Corey Stokes contributed 19 points while hitting five 3-pointers, and Mouphtaou Yarou had 14. Villanova (10-1) has won five straight games.

Monmouth (4-8), which has dropped four out of five, was led by eight points from Phil Wait.
